What’s in a name?

What’s in a name?

Today marks rather large step into the next chapter of the Masons story.

After 18 months of planning and hard work, we are launching a new design and stunning new bottle for our Masons brand.  It’s difficult to put into words the magnitude of a project like this which changes our entire identity.

So, as we change our name to Masons of Yorkshire and announce our new look range, we ask ourselves: what’s in a name? And why is it so important?

A company name is an identity stamp.  It’s a foundation to which you hang your hat and attribute your values.  The decision to rebrand is filled with exciting opportunities and allows you to take a fresh look at the image you present to your customers and the people you serve.

Our old Masons logo – created when we set up – has been with us for 7 years. It has literally been our surname, paired with the Yorkshire crest, a sign of our roots and home. It was designed in the start of the social media age with the simple aim of stamping our products with a quality mark and looking good in print.

Over the past 7 years, we have seen the gin market boom, and with that lots of new labels appeared. Although our name is relatively established here in Yorkshire, we knew we needed to raise the bar (as it were) to compete on a bigger scale. Following our fire in 2019, it felt like the right time to give our image an overhaul.

18 months later, here we are.  We and all our team here at Masons are incredibly proud of our new bespoke bottles, name and label design.

We hope you love our new look – and please be reassured…. it’s still our great, award-winning gin that Masons is known for, inside every bottle.
